About Us
Industrial Design Studio
Profile and Scope of Study:
Studies at the Industrial Design Studio focus on designing functional products—ranging from furniture and interior accessories to electrical appliances, machinery, and means of transport. The studio builds upon the rich tradition of design in Zlín, emphasizing high utility value, ergonomics, visual quality, ecology, and manufacturing potential. Most projects are realized in cooperation with leading domestic and international companies.
What You Will Learn (Skills):
Design Thinking and Visionary Leadership: You will learn not only to follow but also to co-create future trends for industrial partners. You will gain the ability to perceive the broader context—values, relationships, and technological limits—which fundamentally shape the creation of visually and aesthetically high-quality, functional products in our applied environment.
Technological Insight:
You will gain an overview of how products are manufactured. You will understand material properties and learn to select the appropriate technology so that the result is not only aesthetic but also technically feasible.
Professional Communication and Networking:
Through collaboration with companies, you will learn to speak the language of business and manufacturing. You will be able to confidently defend your designs before clients.
Innovative Problem Solving:
We look beyond mere aesthetics to find functional and innovative answers to market needs. You will be guided to push the boundaries of conventional design using the latest procedures.
Complete Realization Capability:
Your work does not end with a sketch. You will gain practical experience in seeing projects through—from initial morphology and function to packaging, logos, and presentation, culminating in the creation of physical models or prototypes.
Digital Design:
You will learn to independently process and present your designs using AI tools, modern software, and advanced 2D/3D visualization tools.
Graduate Career Prospects:
Designers from our studio work in domestic and international studios, as well as in design centres of major companies across various sectors — from the furniture and glass industries to electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and the automotive industry. The professional success of our graduates confirms the effectiveness and comprehensiveness of our curriculum.
Studio Equipment:
The studio is equipped with computing technology, additive manufacturing (3D printing), and access to workshops for working with a wide variety of materials.
