Types of study

Undergraduate

Bachelor Programmes

Bachelor degree programmes prepare the student for the use of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the chosen profession and for studies in the follow-up master degree programme. Students complete their studies by writing and defending their thesis and passing all the parts of the state final exam. Graduates receive the academic degree of a bachelor (Bc.) or bachelor of arts (BcA.). The standard length of study is 3 years.

Postgraduate

Master Programmes

The master degree programs are aimed at acquiring theoretical knowledge based on the current state of scientific knowledge, their application and on development of creative skills. The programme is a follow-up programme to the bachelor degree program and its standard length is 2 years. Students complete their studies by writing and defending their thesis and passing all the parts of the state final exam. Graduates receive the academic degree of a master (Mgr.) or master of arts (MgA.).

Doctoral (Ph.D.) Programmes

The doctoral study programmes Fine Arts and Visual Arts focus on independent theoretical and creative activity in arts. Study includes experimental, research and creative work in the given field. The aim of the study is the development of theory and scientific research in the field of multimedia and design, which represent a crossover discipline between visual communication, industry and art.

Forms of study

Full-time Study

Formerly also termed as ‘daily study’. This is the type of study when the bulk of instruction is organized in the form of lectures, exercises, seminars, studios, practical training, workshops, excursions and other forms of instruction during which the student is in direct contact with the instructor and gains knowledge directly. Instruction covers most of the week.

Part-time Study

Formerly also termed as ‘distance study’. This type of instruction combines elements of full-time study and self-study which are coordinated by the educational institution. Instruction in the part-time study form is conducted in the form of five two-day consultations per semester, always on Fridays (starting roughly at 12 a.m.) and on Saturday.
