2017

  • March – CZECH GRAND DESIGN 17, successful graduate, nomination: MgA. Pavel Coufalík – Concept and Layout of the book Orientation Systems in Czechoslovak Socialist Architecture.

2016

  • March –  Graphic Design Studio. An exhibtion commemorating the 20th anniversary of the founding of the studio (1996 – 2016), TBU rectorate building, opening on March 3, 2016
  • March Workshop with the calligrapher Brody Neuenschwander
    Lecture “Calligraphy for film and media” and a two–day workshop, March 2.–3, 2016.
  • March – MgA. Veronika Rut Nováková with her diploma thesis “Without Visual Smog” became a nominee for Czech Grand Design 2015, prague, March 19, 2016. She successfully implements the project in collaboration with the local authoritites in Brno.
  • March – May – Martina Doležalová received the CZECHDESIGN award in the Young Package 2016 competition, in the Recyclable Packaging category with a paper bag for books that can easily be transformed into a practical book cover. There were a total of 722 student designs from 46 countries in  the competition. The award was presented on May 27, 2016 in Prague.
  • March Font 147 – A profile article about our graduate. Jan Šlégr won a tender for the vsual style of the Czech Floorball League.
  • April Font 148 – A part-time graduate Štěpán Holič (Lemon Design) won a tender for a new visual identity of the town of Frýdek–Místek, profile article.
  • April Font 148 – doctoral student Lumír Kajnar as an author of the new visual identity of the Czech Scouts and Guides. An extensive article about the methodology and process of the origin of the brand and identity.
  • September – doctoral student Petr Belák. His work was included in the book Handmaking in Design, SendPoints Publishing Co.Ltd. China. 2016, ISBN 978–988–14703–8–6
  • October – an exhibition at Vaňkovka in Brno, presentation of 20 years of the studio
  • October – December – Long-term workshop on information graphics, led by associate professor Jacek Mrowczyk from ASP Katowice, intternational collaboration.
  • November – student poster exhibition, opening on November 29, 2016, Zlín Art Gallery, 1st floor of Buzilding 14.

2015

  • April 2nd-year-student Radoslav Dostál won a tender for the logo of the Czech presidency of the Visegrad Group (V4). Barbora Staňková, a 4th-year student, won the third place. The tender was organized by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
  • April The book ZLÍN, a diploma work by the graduate MgA. Pavel Coufalík, was selected for the prestigious collection ELIA NEU/NOW 2015, Amsterdam, Netherlands
  • April a bachelor’s thesis of Kateřina Šuterová titled Unified visual Style of a Tearoom received a special award from Dynamo Design in the Design Talent 2015 competition in Zlín for exceptional grahic design.
  • April  BcA. Veronika Holíková and BcA. Petr Belák designed and implemented and exposition and catalogue for a student exhibition at Ventura LambrateMilan Design Week, April 14–19, 2015, Italy.  www.PopUpShow.cz
  • April International workshop on poster design led by associate professor J. Mrowczyk at the TBU cottage at Portáš. Eighteen students participated, including six Erasmus+ students from Austria, Lithuania, Finland, Taiwan, and France). April 15–17, 2015.
  • July and August An extensive interview in the Font magazine (#142) with the doctoral student Lumír Kajnar about visual style and logotypes.
  • Graduate student Tomáš Kompaník received a bronze medal in the European Design Awards in the Book Layout category. The award was given to him for his original book AHA, inspired by Slovak folklore embroidery. The concept of the book was the subject of his master’s thesis; later he published the book including a special edition with a golden edge. in 2012, the book received the Most Beautiful Czech Book and the Most Beautiful Slovak Book awards, as well as an award from the TypoDesignClubu (Prague).
  • September & October Studio graduates won several tenders. Stěpán Holič for the logo of the town of Příbram,  Eliška Karešová for a logo of the Klicpera Theatre in Hradec Králové and for the XVIth Sokol gathering in 2018.
  • October STUDENT POSTER, an exhibition of 50 posters by students of the studio at the Academy of Fine Arts (ASP) in Krakow (Poland). Opening on October 10, 2015

2014

  • January UNICEF campaign supporting vaccination in third-world countries by means of sale of rag dolls. BcA. Eva Kolovrátková and  BcA. Lucie Stejskalová won second prize and BcA. Barbora Šamánková third prize.
  • March On March 13 2014, an exhibition of students from Czech art schools was opened at the DOX contemporary art centre in Prague. A total of 138 students from Czech Republic, Rumania and UK participated in the exhibition. the project was organized by the Council for International Relations together with the Representation of the European Commission in the Czech Republic within the framework of the 2013 European Citizens’ Year. The jury gave awards to the following designers (the first three in a tie): 1st to 3rd place: Naděžda Moyzesová, FMC, Tomas Bata University in Zlín, 1st to 3rd place: Karolína Petrů, FMC, Tomas Bata University in Zlín

  • June Rostislav Illík – member of jury and exhibiting designer in the jury section at the LOGO 2014 international biennal in Bánská Bystrica, Slovakia, opening on June 18, 2014 (www.bienale–logo.sk)
  • July Rostislav Illík – participation in an international workshop FREEDOM ON B1. Opening on July 2, 2014 at the polish Institute in Budapest (followed by a travelling exhibition). The event was organized within the fraework of the international festival of European art schools KREGI SZTUKI in Cieszyn, Poland. (www.polinst.huwww.kregisztuki.com).
  • October Workshop at the TBU cottage at Portáš on October 15–17, 2014, led by the Slovak graphic designer ak. mal. Pavol Rozložník. The topic was the creation of a totem sign.
  • October Participation in an international conference titled PROJEKTOWANIE–PROJEKTANTÓW in Cracow, Poland on October 22–24, 2014. The conference was organized by the partner university ASP in Cracow on the occassion of 50 years of its founding.
  • October – November National Prize for Student Design 2014 Prague, awards:  Good student design: Pavel Mrňous – Unified visual style of the Atlantis publishing house, design of book editions. Awards by the Design Cabinet CR, Public Award, Press Award: Petr Daneš, Adéla Galbavá, Petra Koutná, About Layabouts, student design exhibition in Milan. Award of the Faculty of Arts and Design (University of West Bohemia, Pilsen), Finezza Design Award: Jan Škuta Graphic Design Serving the Goog and the Evil, original graphic project.   • November International exhibition of student posters at the FMC titled HOLOCAUST – KEEPING THE MEMORY ALIVE. Opening on November 5, 2014. A total of 32 posters.

  • SKOPJE POSTER 2014  December 5–20, 2014,  Skopje, 7th International Student Poster Competition, 2,023 student posters, 1,109 applicants, 44 countries, Kateřina Řezníčková, Lucie Horáková, Magdalena Feikusová, Radek Dostál, Milan Pleva, Michaela Nerudová, Iva Beranová (intern), Daniel Macek (Advertising Photography Studio) – our students among the 100 finalists.

2013

  • January Participation in the international biennale  LOGO 2012 in Bánská Bystrica in the Jury Section, December 2012–January 2013.
  • Exhibition of posters by professor Marian Oslislo in the building of the TBU Rectorate. Openin on January 15, 2013
  • February exhibition of typographic authors from the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia titled TYPOPLAKÁT. Opening on February 13, 2013 at the building of the FMC.
  • Exhibition of 1st year student works titled Graphic Stylization. FMC building.
  • March BcA. Pavel Coufalík won 1st prize in the The Book Phenomenon  in Prague as well as 1st prize in the Graphic Design category in the DESIGN TALENT 2012 competition in Zlín.
  • April Rostislav Illík – lecture on Baťa Advertising at ASP Katowice (Poland) on April 10, 2013 (in Polish).
  • Exhibition titled Jacek Mrowczyk and His Students. Poland. Opening on April 23, 2013 at the FMC.
  • Workshop at the university cottage at Portáš, led by dr Jacek Mrowczyk from ASP Katowice. Twenty-two students participated.
  • LOGOTYP 2012 exhibition at the TBU Rectorate building. A selection of the best logotypes from the international biennial in Bánská Bystrica (Slovakia), organized by the Enterprise agency. Opening on April 29, 2013.
  • Students BcA. Petra Koutná and BcA. Adéla Galbavá create graphic design for the BITE ME MILAN exhibition, organized by the Czech Centre together with the Vasku and Kluge studio.
  • Veronika Holíková is a member of the winning team in an competition organized by the NEW YORKER fashion chain store. Around 100 teams from all over the world participated in the competition.
  • Graduate MgA. Tomáš Kompaník received the Book of the Year 2012 award in the Student Works category for his master’s thesis titled AHA. He also received a special mention from the Typo Design Club ČR. An exceptional success.
  • May Barbora Cekotová won third prize in the Young Packaging 2013 competition for a tea packaging with a crossword puzzle for senior citizens.
  • Erasmus+ staff exchange in Tallinn, Estonia. Rostislav Illík presented his lecture Baťa Advertising and Teaching Graphic Design at FMC in Zlín (May 27– 31, 2013)
  • Jan Šlégr and Ján Bača won 1st prize in the YOUNG CREATIVE CHEVROLET competition. The topic was “THE FOOTBALL PHENOMENON”. The task in the Visual Arts category was “The right car for Fans”. The winning design was selected for the pan-European round in which it competed against other winners from over 280 schools of applied arts from 24 countries. Ján Bača and Jan Šlégr won with a design titled UNITED EMOTIONS, referring to Manchester United. in October, they both participated in a promo event in Manchester, applying their design to Chevrolet cars.
  • June Exhibition of bachelor’s and master’s theses titled EXIT at the Alternativa centre in Zlín. Open June 10– 29, 2013. Exhibition opening on June 13, 2013.
  • A total of 15 studentů got into the selection of 20 works from the Czech Republic in the international competition titled KEEPING MEMORY ALIVE – JOURNEYS THROUGH THE HOLOCAUST. Other countries included UK, Israel, Argentina and Canada.
  • September Three students got into the final round of an international competition, featuring 16 works from 5 countries (D. Avuková 4th place, V. Šišková and K. Bořánková). Three out of four Czech participants were from the FMC. A total of 500 works were in the competition, 96 were selected in national rounds and the final selection featured 16 works which were exhibitied in New York, Brussels and other cities in Europe.
  • November  BcA. Pavel Coufalík won the Student Design Award 2013  for his original book “Zlín”, in which he in an excellent manner reflected the atmosphere of the 1920s and 1930s
  • December BcA. Veronika Nováková won third place in a international infographic competition “Against Corruption”, organized by Transparency International UK.

2012

  • 1st place in an international competition titled Holocaust – Keeping the Memory – 300 works from Czech Republic, France and Israel– Veronika Nováková
  • International competition Holocaust – Keeping the Memory – work by Peter Chmela among the 16 top selected works
  • International competition Migrate to Europe – 218 works from 13 countries, organized by the Council for International Relations of the Czech Republic: 2. place – Monika Košťálová, 3rd place – Martin Málek, 4th place – Jana Súkeníková
  • Virtual Biennial Prague 2011 (topic. China). 1st place – Pavel Coufalík , 2d place – Jan Šlégr
