Reborn Design 2025
Reborn Design is a prestigious challenge for design, architecture, art and engineering students. It focuses on sustainable product design that gives a second life to materials originally destined to be thrown away. This year, students from our faculty have entered the competition - and now you can help them with your vote. What is Reborn Design? The Reborn Design Competition connects creativity, ecology and innovation. Its main goal is to find new, aesthetic and functional uses for residual or waste materials that would otherwise end up in a landfill or incinerator. The results of their work are presented to the public at an exhibition at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University in Prague - this year it runs from 2 to 8 June 2025. Material challenges 2025 This year\'s edition brings four material challenges: Electronic packaging and advertising films This call focuses on the use of plastic packaging and advertising foils, which often end up as waste. The aim is to design products that make efficient use of these materials and contribute to their recycling. Scratchcards - paper The Tipsport Foundation is a partner in this challenge. Participants are asked to design products or system solutions from recycled scratchcards, which MAXA produces in a volume of approximately 30 tonnes per year. The material is primarily paper with various layers, including metallic or holographic effects, and is not recyclable again. Sports waste - rubber and felt packaging This challenge focuses on upcycling materials from sports equipment such as rubber and felt components. The aim is to create new products that make use of these waste materials and extend their life cycle. Automotive leather A challenge to recover waste leather from the automotive industry. Participants are asked to design products that make efficient use of this material and contribute to its recycling. Vote here! The winners will be announced at a gala event on 18 June 2025 at the Green Table. We keep our fingers crossed for our students and look forward to their success.
