FMC students are exhibiting at the Beautiful Work international exhibition in Taiwan
23. April 2026Students from the Product Design Studio at the Faculty of Multimedia Communications at Tomas Bata University in Zlín have participated in the international project “Beautiful Work,” which is currently being showcased at the “Beautiful Work: Czech Crafts Exhibition” at the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute. The exhibition runs through August 23, 2026, and showcases Czech crafts and folk art in the context of contemporary design, architecture, and fashion.
The “Beautiful Work” project, curated by Klára Hegerová, has long focused on connecting traditional craft techniques with contemporary art. It presents craftsmanship as a living part of today’s culture and highlights its potential to address current issues such as sustainability, working with materials, and a return to authentic values.
In 2021, students from the Product Design Studio at FMC were invited to participate in the project alongside students from other art schools, such as UMPRUM in Prague, FAVU VUT in Brno, and FUD UJEP in Ústí nad Labem. Since then, selected student works have been presented not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad, for example in New York, Milan, Eindhoven, and Hong Kong. Currently, works by Adriana Lišková and Daniela Kačeriaková are part of an exhibition in Taiwan.

The exhibition presents a wide range of objects—from jewelry and fashion to ceramics and home accessories—that combine elements of traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. Visitors also have the opportunity to explore techniques that are considered exotic in the Taiwanese context, such as bobbin lace, wirework, and Haban ceramics.
The Beautiful Work exhibition also highlights the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and the long-term development of craftsmanship. The project was initiated by the Družstevní práce Foundation and is being carried out in collaboration with a Taiwanese partner.
