The Industrial Design Studio won 4 awards in the European Product Design Award 2024

The Industrial Design Studio at the Faculty of Multimedia Communications at UTB has achieved extraordinary success on the international stage. In the prestigious European Product Design Award 2024 competition, which annually recognizes the best design projects and realizations from all over the world, they won a total of four prizes. This success testifies to the high quality of education and talent of our students and teachers.

The international competition European Product Design Award is a major platform that supports and promotes the global improvement of product design. The competition focuses on the quality of design projects by product and industrial designers who strive to improve our everyday lives with practical and innovative products and bring new, creative solutions to different areas. EPDA includes a total of 804 categories designed for professional designers, allowing for a wide range of competition entries. The competition also provides a platform for young talents and students to enter 149 specially dedicated categories.

HUGO children’s wheelchair
The Top Design Winner in INDUSTRIAL/Social: Inclusive & Equity Products award in the Student category went to PhD student Jan Kaděra for the Hugo children’s wheelchair, realized in cooperation with KURY spol. s r.o. The goal was to design a wheelchair that would grow with the child. Thanks to this, it will be used by children from 4 to 10 years old. Kaděra was recently awarded the National Student Design Award of the Czech Republic for this design.

Capsule coffee machine ENYCAP
The Top Design Winner in BEVERAGE AND FOOD/Beverage: Tea & Coffee in the Student category was awarded to 5th year student Patrik Tichý for the ENYCAP capsule coffee machine, designed in collaboration with Škoda Auto a.s. It is a coffee machine designed for the interior of the Škoda Enyaq iV for all coffee lovers on the go.

TUTA chair
The Winner in EVENT SUPPLIES/Event Furniture: Chairs award in the Student category went to Ondřej Pechal, a graduate of the studio, for his chair Tuta, realized in cooperation with MMP METAL s.r.o. The interior chair is stylishly simple, visually appealing and undoubtedly attractive. Its construction is designed to be as simple as possible and its production is not complicated.

Multifunctional module EVAN BOX
The Honorable Mention Prize in WORK (Office)/Other Work Product Designs in the Professional category was awarded to the head of the Industrial Design Studio doc. MgA. Martin Surman, ArtD. for the multifunctional module EVAN BOX, realized in cooperation with Mave s.r.o. The module can be used outdoors for selling tickets to various cultural and social events or as a shelter for employees. By combining the two modules, a two-person version is created, for example, for private meetings between business partners.
