Mgr. Vít Jakubíček, Ph.D.
Department of Theoretical StudiesVít Jakubíček is the curator of design in the Regional Gallery of Fine Arts in Zlín and chief curator of the university gallery G18. He primarily concentrates on the history of architecture and design of the 20th century with a special focus on the School of Arts in Zlín, history of industrial design in Zlín and its important figures. He is author of the exhibition projects An Island of Art in the Sea of Industry – The School of Arts in Zlín (1939–1949) and Sense vs Sensibility: Zlín Industrial Design 1918–1958, Sense vs Sensibility2: Zlín Industrial Design 1959–1992, as well as a number of monographic exhibitions (Zlín – the Cradle of Czech Design, Zdeněk Hybler – Posters for Baťa Company, The Zlín Region through the eyes of Vladimír Hroch, Zdeněk Hybler Vojtěch Štolfa: “I Want to Bring Up At Least Two Students for the Theatre”, Antonín Horák 100, Art For/After Work, The School of Arts in Zlín – Secondary School of Applied Arts in Uherské Hradiště), Zlín Salons 1936–1948 and exhibitions organised in collaboration with the Václav Chad Gallery (Alex Beran: A Zlín Afternoon, Jan Rajlich: Depth of Surface, František Chmelař: The Painter Who Wrote Poems).
