Castle in Cieszyn will host the best diploma theses
28. February 2025As usual, at the beginning of March, the best works of graduates from universities in Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary will be presented at the castle in Cieszyn. Lucia Mišeková, a graduate of the Graphic Design studio, was among the selected theses with her work entitled TYPE(A)IN. The opening will take place on 7 March 2025 and the works will be on display until 27 April 2025.
Since 2002, Graduation Projects has been exhibiting the best design work of graduates. The project was originally intended only for students from Poland, but since 2010 the exhibition has gradually been opened to other countries from the Visegrad 4. A total of 380 works were submitted for this year’s edition, from which the 30 best works in the 2D and 3D categories were carefully selected. These include works from the field of graphic design in the broadest sense of the word, as well as from the field of industrial design, including interactive projects, clothing, glass and ceramics.
TYPE(A)IN
Typography is an integral part of visual communication, but its importance is often underestimated in the early days of young designers. This was one of the impulses behind the creation of the youth typographic periodical TYPE(A)IN – a project that builds on a master thesis exploring typography in the digital age. “I am pleased that my diploma thesis has gained recognition on an international level. It encourages me to develop the project further,” says Lucia Mišeková. TYPE(A)IN brings a fresh visual approach and its content reflects the topics addressed by young aspiring graphic designers and students of similar disciplines in secondary schools. The aim of the magazine is to broaden their view of typography and deepen their relationship to it in a playful way. At the same time, the physical form of the magazine with interactive elements is a counterbalance to more dominant digital media.
In addition to the exhibition in Cieszyn, the magazine can also be seen as part of the ongoing exhibition National Design Award 2024 – Communications Design, which can be visited in Košice until 14 March 2025. More examples of TYPE(A)IN can be found at the FMK Showcase.
