Zlín animation among the CILECT Prize finalists for the first time
30. August 2021The International Association of Film and Television Schools CILECT, which brings together prestigious film schools from all over the world, regularly awards the best student films in the field of feature, documentary and animated film. This year, Alion Baranová’s animated diploma’s film entitled The Leaf was also awarded in the last-named category.
This year, 116 schools participated in the competition, each of which could nominate only one title for each category (fiction, documentary, and animation). Thanks to this procedure, the competition offers a truly selective spectacle. Participating schools then have the opportunity to vote for one of the nominated films, with 89 schools taking advantage of this in 2021.

While last year, the Zlín Animation studio of the Faculty of Multimedia Communications missed out on the imaginary podium by a whisker (finishing in the sixth position), this time it made it to the top five. And that was with the film The Leaf. The lyrical and playful look at the return home was created with the help of financial support from the FILMTALENT ZLÍN Foundation, premiered in competition at the Berlinale International Film Festival, and its distribution is handled by the renowned French company Miyu.
