Long Life in Bratislava

The Long Life project, which was created thanks to designers from several countries, shows us how to increase the quality and length of life. It was first installed during the Zlin Design Week in Zlin, then in Poland and Portugal. On Wednesday, November 22, we started the international Long Life exhibition at the Design Gallery Satelit in Bratislava. The exhibition runs from November 23, 2023 – January 28, 2024.

Society must start preparing for the ongoing political, economic and demographic changes. Students from three Central European universities participated in the LongLife project to show that design, art and architecture can help find possible solutions for different areas affected by the aging phenomenon. Some of their ideas are practical and doable, others are thought-provoking visions.

Young designers approached the topic from very different and sometimes surprising angles, from designing inclusive smartphone UX design to very stylish yet highly functional furniture, from multi-purpose therapeutic aids to an ironic look at our own virtual existence. Design has the power and responsibility to translate our attitude change into practice. It turns out that the student designers who do this are very aware of it.

Participating universities: Tomas Bata University in Zlín, Technical University in Zvolen, Masaryk University in Brno
