Lecture: Tanguy Prevot – Practical Creativity

The Faculty of Multimedia Communications at TBU in Zlín invites its students to a lecture by experienced industrial designer Tanguy Prevot, which will take place on October 22, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m. in building U4, room 201 (Univerzitní 2431, Zlín). The event will take place as part of the Lecture by a Professional from the Field (POD1) course and is intended for students of bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. The lecture will be held in English and will also include a discussion.

The upcoming lecture, entitled Practical Creativity, will focus on creative approaches to problem solving and how to develop creative thinking in practice using various methods and tools. Tanguy Prevot will share his experiences from working in different cultural and professional environments and offer his perspective on the obstacles that often hinder creativity. He will also explain the advantages and limitations of some well-known techniques and provide recommendations on how to avoid their pitfalls.

“It is exciting for me to share my experience with students in various design and creative fields at the Faculty of Multimedia Communications TBU. It is precisely the diversity of my career that got me to see some of the tricks I will share. I hope to motivate them to take a hands-on approach to creative problem solving, acquire know-how in the process, and gain control of their craft,” says Prevot.

Tanguy Prevot is a designer with extensive international experience. He studied in France, Switzerland, and Sweden, where he earned a master’s degree from the prestigious Umeå Institute of Design (UID). During his professional career, he has worked in France, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Belgium, and the Czech Republic. His work spans a wide range of design disciplines, from automotive and product design to FMCG and food packaging design, in-store branding, to visual and orientation systems in hospital environments.

A significant part of his career has also been devoted to industrial safety and the development of personal protective equipment. It is in this field that he has achieved notable international success, as confirmed by his numerous awards. Tanguy Prevot is a repeat winner of the prestigious Red Dot Design Award – for example, for the Honeywell Miller Söll VC510, VC570, and VR670 fall arrest systems (2023), the Honeywell North PA920 PAPR helmet (2021), and the Honeywell North HM500 industrial respirator (2020).

The lecture promises not only an inspiring insight into design practice at an international level, but also an opportunity to discuss and share experiences with an expert whose work has been recognized worldwide. For FMC students, the lecture is a unique opportunity to learn more about the practical application of creativity and to broaden their perspective on their own design practice.

You can learn more about his work and projects on his LinkedIn, Skillshare, and Coroflot profiles, where he shares his professional experience and examples of his designs.
