Inside of Dotek 2024

A new chapter of the thirteenth edition of the Fashion Event Dotek will be launched on 15 October by the students of the Faculty of Multimedia Communications of the Tomas Bata University in Zlín in the Photogether gallery in the Zlín Polyclinic. The unveiling of the new theme will again be related to the support of the non-profit organization Alliance of Women with Breast Cancer o.p.s., to whose account the proceeds from the project of Zlín designers ADO Pop-up will go. The programme will be complemented by panel discussions with young Czech designers as part of the Czech Radio Wave programme “Wardrobes”, hosted by creative producer Veronika Ruppert.

Fashion Event Dotek, a non-profit project of the Faculty of Multimedia Communications of Tomas Bata University in Zlín, has provided a space for fashion design students for 12 years, during which the project has supported 3 non-profit organizations. For the seventh year, all proceeds from the benefit auctions and accompanying programs go to the non-profit organization Alliance of Women with Breast Cancer o.p.s., which provides assistance to cancer patients and educates the public about prevention and issues related to this disease. It will be no different on 15 October at the Photogether gallery in Zlín, where the second edition of the accompanying programme entitled Inside of Touch will take place, with the unveiling of a new theme for the following year and a discussion within the framework of the programme Wardrobes with its author, Veronika Ruppert.

“I have been watching and visiting Dotek for a long time, I really like the energy and inspiration it brings. Recording the Wardrobes podcast in front of a live audience at an event is a super fun challenge for me, and I’m really looking forward to it,” says Veronika Ruppert, author of the Wardrobes podcast on Radio Wave and creative producer at Czech Radio (she produced and dramaturged the podcasts Krása, Sádlo, Lásky čas, Postíže and others). This podcast explores the approach of Czechoslovak celebrities to dressing and authenticity through their wardrobes and closets. Visitors to the October programme will have the opportunity to see it live as a discussion with Czech handbag and accessory designer, Kateřina Vavroušková, who creates for the Quitkova concept. The second guest of the offline Wardrobes will be Pavel Mikliš, a young Czech designer and student of the Fashion Design Studio of the Faculty of Fashion and Telecommunications of the Jagiellonian University.

The charity part of the programme, thanks to which visitors can contribute to the running of the supported organisation, will be the ADO Pop-up project. Fashion Event Dotek connects not only with designers, but also with young artists from the music sphere. The whole event will close with three DJ sets by local creatives during the after party. The bunker of the Zlín Polyclinic houses a gallery run by the students of the Photography Studio of FMK UTB called Photogether, which will meet with a newly created installation especially for the October programme reflecting a look into the past and the beginning of something new.

“This year’s Fashion Event Dotek is a new beginning of the next chapter, and not only thanks to the young team that takes the baton of the project. Despite the new start, we are pleased to continue our long-standing support of the Alliance of Women with Breast Cancer o.p.s. We are happy that the October programme will welcome both loyal supporters and new faces, to whom we will not only pass on new knowledge from the world of fashion, but also inform them about the importance of breast cancer prevention,” comments the new project manager Karin Dugasová, who also mentions the importance of prevention, which the Alliance of Women with Breast Cancer will not forget to educate about in the framework of Inside by Touch.

The Photogether gallery space will open to visitors on 15 October at 5pm. After the official opening, the theme of the thirteenth edition will be unveiled, followed by two panel discussions at 5:45 pm as part of the show Closets with its author Veronika Ruppert. The programme will end with a DJ set by three young Czech performers. ADO Pop-up will run throughout the programme until 20:00. Admission for the whole event is 90 CZK.
