Information for students about restrictions on catering operations during the reconstruction

The food service of the central canteen of TBU in Zlín on Univerzitní Street is currently undergoing a complete renovation. The existing technologies of gastro equipment no longer correspond to modern operational and technical requirements, therefore a new concept of operation was proposed, which will fundamentally speed up the check-in of diners.

Due to the unplanned postponement of construction works until October 2023, it is necessary to adjust the activities of existing food establishments as follows:

In the U4 University canteen there will be:

  • only the employee canteen with a capacity of 122 seats is open,
  • expanded offer of packaged and sterilized meals,
  • extended opening hours for lunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • We recommend preferential use by FMK and FHS employees.

In the U13 restaurant there will be:

  • increased seating capacity to 200, namely in the restaurant and in adjacent areas on the 1st floor,
  • the possibility of collecting packaged food at the collection point next to the restaurant (existing changing room),
  • extended opening hours for lunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • We recommend preferential use by FHS, FT and Rectorate employees.

At Hotel Garni there will be:

  • the possibility of dining in the restaurant with a capacity of 60 seats and the use of the lounge on the second floor with a capacity of 45 seats,
  • extended opening hours for lunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • We recommend priority use by FAME, CPS, UNI and FT employees.

The buffet in the U2 building will have:

  • increased number of servings of hot meals,
  • extended opening hours until 3 p.m.
  • We recommend priority use by FAME, CPS and UNI employees.

In the canteen in building U5 there will be:

  • increased number of servings of hot meals,
  • extended opening hours until 3 p.m.
  • We recommend preferential use by FAI and FT employees.

During the renovation, the choice of hot meals will be limited to only three types.

From the beginning of September to the end of October, packaged meals will be sold in all food establishments without payment for packaging (meals will be already packaged for faster check-in by diners).
To ensure smooth operation, we ask diners to vacate their seats as soon as possible after eating.

We believe that with your help we will get through this difficult period. The KMZ staff will help you as much as possible with any questions.
