Czech Television presented original documentaries by students and graduates of the Audiovisual Arts Studio
23. February 2022During February, Czech Television premiered two original documentaries by students and graduates of the Audiovision studio at the Faculty of Multimedia Communications of the Tomas Bata University in Zlín, namely Grandma as a Chance and Firefighters of Our Time.
Grandma as a Chance (2021) is a fascinating story of Zdenka Wasserbauer, who at the age of 82 is intensively involved in expanding the bone marrow donor registry and bringing a chance of recovery to the sick. Like her grandson, the film’s director Pavel Jakeš, who contracted leukaemia as a child and, unlike his friend Honzik, was lucky enough to be cured. Together with the main actor of the documentary, Pavel Jakeš was also invited to the Czech Television programmes Good Morning and Home Alone, where he presented the film.
The documentary Firefighters of Our Time (2021), which was presented as part of Czech Television’s Our Countryside documentary series, is an original portrait of the Moravian village of Křenovice through the eyes of three generations of local firefighters. Their activities are seen from the insider perspective of the cameraman Marek Novoměstský, an active member of the corps, who made the film with the collaboration of Rudolf Šnajder, who wrote and directed the film. Tomáš Polách, a graduate of the Audiovision studio, worked as an editor on both films.
