100 × 100 × 100 × 100 Exhibition

The Faculty of Multimedia Communications at TBU in Zlín will take part in the 100 × 100 × 100 × 100 exhibition, which presents current approaches to sculptural thinking at five Central European art schools. The exhibition will be on view at the Ladislav Sutnar Gallery in Pilsen from 16 July to 20 August 2026. The official opening will take place on 15 July 2026 at 5 pm. The exhibition is organised by the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art at UWB.

The project is based on a simple yet distinctive constraint. All the exhibited works respond to the format of a shipping crate measuring 100 × 100 × 100 cm and a maximum permitted weight of 100 kg. This practical limitation thus becomes a shared starting point for the participating artists, as well as a framework within which different approaches to sculpture as a medium, material, scale and installation are revealed.

The exhibition does not set out to provide a comprehensive picture of contemporary sculpture. Instead, it focuses on how individual schools approach three-dimensional practice, how they teach it and how they bring it into the exhibition space. Alongside FMC TBU in Zlín, the project involves the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław, the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica, the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków and the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art at UWB in Pilsen.

The title 100 × 100 × 100 × 100 thus refers not only to the dimensions and weight of the shipping crate, but also to the principle that connects different educational settings across Czechia, Slovakia and Poland. The limited format opens up questions about what sculpture can mean today, how it can respond to a given framework and how it changes when its form is determined by the conditions of transport.
