Game Jam Zlín 2025 comes with a new challenge!
27. February 2025Today’s world is built on information technology – we use it to work, learn and stay in touch with our surroundings. But when work stops, entertainment comes, and with it comes computer games. I’m sure you’ve all played one, and maybe you’ve dreamed of creating your own game one day. If so, here’s a great chance for you. From 14 to 16 March, the 3rd edition of the Game Jam Zlín creative marathon will take place at the Technology Innovation Centre in Zlín, where you can create your own computer game from scratch.
Game Jam is not just a local affair. The concept was born 20 years ago and today it is an international phenomenon that seeks to bring new ideas to the gaming industry. After two previous editions, it quickly gained popularity in Zlín. Not only students of the Faculty of Applied Informatics (FAI) and the Faculty of Multimedia Communications (FMK), but also creative high school students from all over the Zlín region can participate. “We are very happy that Game Jam in Zlín has become a tradition. This year, we are aiming for greater participation of high school students. We believe that connecting university students with younger colleagues is inspiring for both sides,” says organizer Jitka Honsová from UPPER.
Split into mixed teams of three to five, participants will have 48 hours to create a working prototype of a computer game on a theme that will be revealed at the start of the event. The work will take place around the clock in the premises of TIC Zlín. The resulting games will be judged by an expert jury of educators and game industry professionals, including representatives from Polyperfect, Flying Rat Studio and Visiongame.cz. The emphasis in the evaluation is mainly on technical processing, design and idea. At the end of the event, a Game Jam 2025 winner will be selected to receive a cash prize.
Total capacity is limited to 50 participants, so if you are interested in attending, please register by emailing upper@utb.cz. Join the event on Facebook and keep up to date with news about the event.
